Description

20 years old Japanese larch in a plastic bonsai pot. This bonsai is approx. 53cm high.

The Japanese larch (botanically Larix kaempferi, also Larix leptolepis, japanese Karamatsu, Family Pines - Pinaceae) becomes in nature several hundred years old. It is native to central Japan and widely cultivated in Central Europe. In its natural habitat it grows up to 50m high and reaches trunk diameter of about 1m.

It is deciduous, i.e. like other larches its needles fallen down in autuum. Then the fine branches of the larch are good to see. For this reason, the larch is a very decorative bonsai in winter.

Cones of both sexes can be found on the same tree. In some cases, cones can be found on larch bonsai trees from 10 years on.

Japanese larch bonsai are very light hungry. On a sunny location it grows rapidly and so you can quickly shape your bonsai.

The Japanese larch bonsai preferred a well-drained, nutrient-rich substrate. The combination of Akadama as a substrate with an organic fertilizer is fine.

When ordering, you will always get the bonsai displayed on the picture (no. 202-95).

Important note on the size: A bonsai is a tree in a bonsai pot. For this reason the size of the bonsai is in every case the size with the bonsai pot.
