9 years old Japanese Deshojo maple in a plastic bonsai pot. This bonsai is approx. 50cm high and was imported directly from a japanese bonsai nursery.
The Deshojo Maple (botanical Acer palmatum Deshojo, Family maples - Aceraceae) is a kind of maple with brilliant red shoots in spring. The leaves turn green in summer, followed by a red-green color at leaf fall in autumn.
This is one reason why the Deshojo is often styled as a bonsai.
Other reasons are: A fine branch is easily accessible, the leaves remain small.
Like all Maple species the Deshojo also requires a well-drained soil. It should be kept evenly moist without over watering.
If the Deshojo is protected from drying out in winter, he tolerates well low temperatures below zero. A semi-shaded to sunny location is suitable.
The Deshojo is mostly imported from Japan or Korea. As a garden tree, it is up to about 3m high.
When ordering, you will always get the bonsai displayed on the picture (no. 091-27).
Important note on the size: A bonsai is a tree in a bonsai pot. For this reason the size of the bonsai is in every case the size with the bonsai pot.
