Overwinter bonsai by burrowing
In addition to overwintering in the greenhouse, outdoor bonsai can be overwintered by burying it into the garden ground.
For this purpose, the bonsai pot is wrapped in a jute bale fabric. Then the bonsai is placed in a previously dug hole in the garden up to the 1st branch. The hole is then filled with soil.
A shady, wind-protected place is well suited, where the bonsai tree can remain from November to February.
In this video (in german) we show you how to do it.
