What is an indoor bonsai ?

Indoor Bonsai are not hardy. This means that they must be protected from low temperatures during the cold season. Most Indoor bonsai (eg. Ficus, Jadebaum, Sageretie, Carmona, Liguster) come from tropical and subtropical areas. Even in winter there are temperatures far above freezing and indoor bonsai from there do not need to be frost hardy. Indoor bonsai are also genetically unable to adapt to frost.

Indoor bonsai: light and temperature

Indoor bonsai, like all plants, need light. Lots of light. They're doing photosynthesis to gain energy. In a normal apartment, the supply of light for room bonsai is very small.
