Description of this bonsai

13 years old St. Lucie cherry in a plastic bonsai pot. This prebonsai tree is approx. 41cm high and was made by Bonsaischule Wenddorf.

The St. Lucie cherry (also Rock cherry, Mahaleb cherry, botanically Prunus mahaleb, Family Roses - Rosaceae) is a deciduous, small tree and grows up to 7-9m height. It grows in Central to Southern Europe.

The Rock cherry blossoms abundantly for 2-3 weeks in April with white, fragrant flowers. Flowers are formed the first time at the age of 5 years. The fruits are small (up to 1 cm diameter), edible and mature in August to September.

It is used in culture as a graft for different Prunus species.

The Mahaleb cherry is very suitable for bonsai design. It is hardy, has fine branches, plenty of fine flowers and bears fruit as a bonsai.

When ordering, you will always get the bonsai displayed on the picture (no. 131-02).
