Description of this bonsai
15 years old Japanese apricot in a bonsai pot. This tree is approx. 39cm high and was imported directly from a japanese bonsai nursery.
The Japanese apricot (botanical Prunus mume, Japanese name Ume, rose family - Rosaceae) is a bonsai that already bloom at the end of winter (sometimes already in late January). Prunus mume bonsai are common in Japan. The Japanese apricot is a deciduous, hardy outdoor bonsai and grows as a tree in nature up to a height of 10m.
Older apricot bonsai have a thick bark. The white, red or pink flowers are 1-2cm tall. The 2-3cm fruits ripen in July.
