14 years old Trident maple in a plastic bonsai pot. This bonsai is approx. 41cm high and was imported directly from a japanese bonsai nursery.
The Trident maple (botanical Acer buergerianum, Family Maples - Aceraceae) is a medium-sized. It is native to China, Japan and Taiwan.
The Trident maple is a deciduous, naturally upright growing tree. It is a outdoor bonsai and reaches a height of up to 20m and up to 50cm trunk diameter.
The Trident Maple is perfectly suited for bonsai. Advantages of this species are e.g. its small leaves, its huge root growth, generally its strong growth and a very good tolerance against strong pruning. It is well suited for bonsai beginners.
The opposite leaves (like field maple) are three-lobed (origin of name) and color in autumn turn from green to orange and red.
As an outdoor bonsai the Trident Maple likes a sunny place. During winter a perfect place is an unheated plastic tent.
When ordering, you will always get the bonsai displayed on the picture (no. 141-56).
Important note on the size: A bonsai is a tree in a bonsai pot. For this reason the size of the bonsai is in every case the size with the bonsai pot.
